Mr. Ed G. Reel arrived in 1879 from St. Louis. He bought Wild Goose Island from Maj. Harrow who built a house on the Island. In 1885 plowed and grubbed; he planted 600 vines and enlarged each year until he had 4,000 vines at Christmas Lake.
