John W, Mann beside wife's (Mary Mann) grave at Woodside Cemetery, Shorewood, MN. John Mann was a hotel keeper and a steamboat owner. He bought 400 acres on Birch Bluff for $4.00 an acre in gold from a family frightened away by the Indian uprising. The Sue Gardiner was the second boat bought by John Mann.
