Description:
Second Class Sloop (sailboat) "Volante" owned by Hazen J. Burton, designed by Edward Burgess of Boston Mass in 1886 and built by George Lawley & Son. The boat was Minnetonka Yacht Club Champion Second Class Sloops. This photograph was loaned by George A. Brackett. Also on back of picture: "Haynes' Artistic Views. A complete series of scenes in an about the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, including public buildings, parks, boulevards, Minnehaha Falls, Fort Snelling, Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, Lake Minnetonka, White Bear Lake, Dalles of the St. Croix, etc.etc. Published in all sizes by F.E. Haynes, Minneapolis, Minn. 252 Nicollet Ave., 84 South 7th St.
