Description:
Tinted post card of the Blue Line Cafe with a man standing on the dock. Front of post card: "Blue Line Pavillion, Lake Minnetonka, Excelsior, Minn. The Blue Line was originally built on pilings at the foot of Center Street by the Stetson Brothers in 1878. It was called the "Blue Line" because they rented boats with blue lines painted around the gunwale. In 1903 the building was moved to the next block (at the foot of Water Street). It had room for 450—500 diners with docks where boats could be moored while their owners dined. In later years it became a snack business for the Excelsior Amusement Part and finally a boat livery. The vacant building burned in 1958. The round structure to the right of the main building now (2012) stands at the Port of Excelsior. The Bay Shore Condominiums are built on this site.
