Description:
Wyer—Pearce House, 201 Mill Street, Excelsior, MN. Was built in the 1885—87 period. It had six fireplaces, two porches—one screened. Thirteen rooms powered by a gas machine for lighting and a 'modern' water system with water tank. It was three acres with a lawn that went two blocks down to the lake and included an orchard, vineyard and vegetable garden. Mr. Wyer was a noted librarian and was director of the New York State Library and Library School. He served a term as president of the American Library Assoc. In 1930 Fred Pearce, owner of the Excelsior Amusement Park bought the house (then a duplex). Later the building housed offices and an art gallery. In 1985 it was opened as a B&B renamed "Christopher Inn". ("Walking The Trails of History").
