Waterfront Image Collection
Description:
There weren't enough year—round residents to warrant good highways when this charming picture of a girl and boy going fishing was taken around 1906 when the double track of the Great Northern was laid. The youngsters here are headed for the big dock where boats steamed in and out at the east end of the Great Northern trailway depot platform in Wayzata. The double tracks took up much more lake front than they do today. In 1939 the tracks were shifted closer to the shore and the hiway widened. The building at the far right is now the site of Hart's cafe (Sunsets as of 2012). The two story house with bow windows was located where Ruth Herrick's shop now stands. The children's father was Roy S. Moore, boat builder at Wayzata. On the picture the date stated is 1895. The accompanying sheet states c. 1906.
