Description:
Lake Park Hotel, Tonka Bay. Built in 1879 by the Northwestern Sunday School Association. Originally called the Minnetonka Park Hotel, the Lake Park Hotel and finally in 1904 the Tonka Bay Hotel. It had 250 acres with almost five miles of shoreline. The pavilion was originally called the Lake Park Amusement Hall and included a theater and ballroom. In 1883 an ad ran for the "Grand Opening of the Roller Skating Rink" The pavilion name was changed to the Tonka Bay Casino. In 1911 the hotel closed and was razed in 1913. The Casino as of January 1920 was still standing and was moved across the lake (in winter) to a site near where the Excelsior Amusement Part would be built. It went by many names the best known "Big Reggie's Danceland. It was destroyed by fire. ("Lake Minnetonka's Historic Hotels")
