Description:
Post card (No. 26) of the Tonka Bay Hotel, Boat Club, Roller Skating Rink, and Steamer Landing.Vintage 1900's Lake Minnetonka Scene. The hotel was built in 1879 and was originally called the Minnetonka Park Hotel. It was known as the Lake Park Hotel and in 1904 was renamed the Tonka Bay Hotel. The pavilion was originally called the Lake Park Amusement Hall and included a theater and ballroom. In 1883 management put out an ad including the opening of the "Roller Skating Rink". Later the pavilion was called Tonka Bay Casino. In 1913 the hotel was razed but the pavilion was still standing in 1920 when it was moved across the ice to a site to near where the amusement part was built. "(Lake Minnetonka's Historic Hotels")
